What’s the difference between booking a trip directly through Bespoke Sikkim and travel agents out of the state?
Bespoke Sikkim is a local tour agency, operating from Sikkim. There will be some savings by booking your trip directly through us. Agents outside the state are commission agents, and you will be paying a commission on top of the rate charged by a local tour operator. When you book through travel agents not based in Sikkim, they still need to work with local operators here, because tourist permits can only be arranged by a local operator.
How is Bespoke Sikkim different from other travel agencies?
Bespoke Sikkim is built around immersive, authentic and personal journeys that stay close to the heart of Sikkim. We design each trip around you, work as a local team on the ground, and keep the experience unfiltered — culture, landscapes and people included — rather than a packaged checklist.
Is it possible to visit the high-altitude destinations with a minor or an aged person?
Yes, it is — with the right planning. Destinations like Tsomgo Lake, Nathula, Yumthang and Gurudongmar sit at very high altitudes, so we design the itinerary with gradual acclimatisation, unhurried travel days and rest built in, which makes a real difference for children and elderly travellers. We do recommend a quick check with your doctor before travelling, especially for anyone with heart, respiratory or blood-pressure conditions, and we carry supplemental oxygen and a first-aid kit on high-altitude drives. A few of the highest points may not be advisable for infants or guests with certain medical conditions; where that is the case, we will tell you in advance and suggest equally beautiful alternatives at a comfortable altitude. Share the ages and any health concerns of your group with us, and we will shape a route that keeps everyone safe and comfortable.
When is the best time to travel in Sikkim?
The best time to visit Sikkim is from March to May (spring) and October to mid-December (autumn), when the weather is pleasant and the skies are clear.
Spring · March to May Best for blooming rhododendrons and colour. Temperatures range from 5°C to 25°C. Ideal for sightseeing, birdwatching and trekking.
Autumn · October to November Best for clear views of the Himalayas and Mount Kanchenjunga. The weather is crisp, cool and stable after the monsoon, and a fine time for local cultural festivals.
Winter · December to February Best for snow-capped landscapes and snowfall in high-altitude areas such as North Sikkim. Temperatures drop below freezing in higher regions, and some roads may close due to snow.
Monsoon · June to September Best avoided. Heavy rainfall often causes landslides and blocked mountain roads.
